1960s - Crossroads to Crime
Crossroads to crime is a 1960s British Social Realism movie. In crossroads to crime. some of the themes are violence and crime. Some of the characters are Police Constable Don Ross who discovers a gang of lorry hi-jackers. Examples of mise-en-scene used in the movie includes guns, large vehicles and large shipments of cigarretes. The movie is filmed in black and white which adds impact on how old the movie is.1970s - Performance
Performance is a movie created in 1968, but only released in 1970 and its main themes include sex, violence and fantasy. The location of the film is in East London and some of the characters include Chas, who is a soldie in a gang. Some of the sound in the film are gunshots, which is a diagetic sound to show the violence in the movie. Some of the mise-en-scene include guns.
1980s - The Long Good Friday
The Long Good Friday is a movie created in the 1980s in which some of the themes include violence and murder. The location of Long Good Friday is in the streets of London and the main characters are Harold Shands and Victoria played by Hellen Mirren. The main sound in the movie is diagetic sound as it comes from guns and explosions so that it can add more realism and enthusiasm towards the audience viewing the movie.
1990s - Life is Sweet
Life is sweet is a movie from the 1990s about a British family which faces some problems. The main themes in Life is Sweet relationships between the family as it's a movie who is mostly focussed on only them and no side characters. The film is shot in London and the main characters include Wendy, the mother, Andy the father and Nicola and Natalie, the two twin daughters. Most of the music played is the same type of background music which is a fairly happy song which shows that the family is happy all along the movie.
2000s - Kidulthood
Kidulthood is a British drama film whose main focus is the teenagers' challenges when they depart from school. Kidulthood mostly focuses on gangs and violence and is set in the Western parts of London - Ladbroke Grove. Some of the sound that is used in Kidulthood is diagetic sound and an example of this is the R'n'b that is played so that the audience will connect to them as they too could listen to that type of music.
2010s - Four Lions
Four lions is a BSR film which involves four 'terrorists' and their plans on when they are going to do in a terrorist attack. Some characters in Four Lions are Omar, Hassan, Barry and Raj. The main themes are terrorism and comedy as Four Lions implements them both into one. The location in which Four Lions is set in is in Pakistan and Britain. Some sounds are diagetic, for example the firing of rockets.
The main things that I saw when I reviewed these films was the difference in characters, for example only until 2000s was there a mixture of races as before that, the films were mostly portrayed by white characters which shows how society has changed in the portrayal of their movies.
